AC or air conditioner certainly not foreign stuff for us. Especially those living in urban areas. In fact, the AC seemed to be electronic equipment that must exist considering how hot the weather lately. There are educational institutions that boast the building because it is equipped with AC facilities. Yes, AC seems to be a luxury to be proud of its existence, but if we know the impact of the use of air conditioning for our environment must have thought dozens of times.

AC (Air Conditioning) or can be called air conditioning is a tool to cool and cool the air in a closed room. AC is a process of changing the properties of air especially temperature and humidity. AC may refer to any form of cooling, heating, ventilation or disinfection technology that modifies air conditions. The air conditioning cools the atmosphere indoors and increases the temperature outdoors. The use of air conditioning can have a negative effect on the environment, especially that can be caused by the main component of the AC itself is Freon. Freon is the name of the chemicals of chlorofluorocarbons or CFCs. Freon and other refrigerants are toxic and can cause poisoning even unto death. Well, as we know air conditioning both at home, offices, up to air conditioned leased for various events also equipped with Freon. As we know, Freon or CFC is the cause of global warming which is the cause of many changes in the environment, ranging from increasing the temperature of the earth to melting ice at the poles that are now increasingly perceived impact. Actually the negative impacts resulting from Freon's use of the AC can not be quantitatively measured and the standard of emissions produced by AC but the Freon content used as an AC cooler has been shown to negatively impact the ozone depletion and global warming that occur on earth. Depletion of the ozone layer is able to increase radiation Ultraviolet-B on the face of the Earth. Of the increase Ultraviolet-B is able to trigger the occurrence of health problems in living things on Earth. In humans, excessive ultraviolet-B radiation can cause skin cancer, eye cataracts and reduce the body's resistance to infectious diseases. In addition, it can also trigger chemical reactions in the lower atmosphere, resulting in the addition of the number of photochemical reactions that produce toxic fumes, acid rain and increased respiratory tract disorders. In plants, this excessive ultraviolet-B radiation can inhibit the growth of various plants, even some plants become dwarfed. As a result the crops decreased and not infrequently the harvest failed. In seawater waters, the high intensity of Ultraviolet-B can eradicate small organisms that live on the surface of the water. Phytoplankton which are the main sources of food chain of marine organisms can be destroyed, resulting in a chain effect on the life of marine organisms. Ultraviolet-B radiation will also reduce the ability of a number of organisms that absorb carbon dioxide gas which is one of the greenhouse gases so that the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere will increase and cause global warming.

From some of the above explanation can be seen that so many impacts caused by Freon one of which is in AC. Therefore, air conditioning should be used within reasonable limits of use and not excessive, if the room is not used then air conditioning should be shut down so as to minimize the use of CFCs that can damage the environment. Often found room that air conditioning is not turned off after use. This is caused by someone who is negligent in turning it off. Routine care needs to be taken care of and carried out according to existing provisions.
