Technology and Technology Implementation Agency (BPPT) Serpong, Tangerang District, optimistic biofuels (biofuel) type of biodiesel growing rapidly in Indonesia.
"The function of biodiesel to replace fuel oil (BBM) coming from fossil, which gradually its production will decrease," said Head of BPPT, Prof. Said D. Jenie, in Tangerang, Tuesday (13/11).
Said said, biodiesel is made from raw materials of crops and crude palm oil (CPO) or crude palm oil, whose supply is widely spread in Java, Sulawesi, Kalimantan and Sumatra.
Currently biofuel biofuel has begun to be applied to automobile types and several power plants, even the government has conducted socialization from Aceh to Bali for the use of biodiesel fuel.
In addition to producing biodiesel, BPPT also conducts research on the way of jatropha seeding as well as making the design of biodiesel manufacturing plant on a small scale with production of 3,000-6,000 liters per day.
Recorded 40 envoys from various regions attended the seminar BPPT about the manufacture of small-scale biodiesel plant that will be placed in all regions in Indonesia to support the development of biofuel productivity.
It said Said, biodiesel is beneficial to vehicles, manufacturing industries, and power plants, since the use of biodiesel as much as 10 to 20% can reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 20 to 30% compared to fossil fuels, such as diesel and premium.
"In addition to reducing CO2 pollution levels, biodiesel is able to slow down the process of global warming," Said said.
Although the supply of biodiesel feedstock is widespread in Indonesia, the mass nursery process faces constraints, hence the need for special long term nursery research for farmers.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono issued Government Regulation (PP) Number 5 of 2006 on the Government of Indonesia's Target to Develop the Use of Biodiesel Mix by five to 10% by 2025. (* /
