New Honda Insight prototype car will debut first at the North American International Auto Show 2018 in Detroit on January 15, 2018. Honda Insight is a five-seater advanced sedan with two-motor hybrid system and launched in summer 2018.
With its sophisticated design, dynamic, spacious cabin and top-of-the-line performance, the New Honda Insight Prototype represents Honda's vision of making environmentally friendly electric vehicles, said Henio Arcangeli Jr., Senior Vice President of Automobile Sales and General Manager of Honda Division, Honda Motor Co., Inc., in a release on Merdeka.com, Thursday (28/12).
Introduced since 1999, the first generation Honda Insight is America's first high-tech hybrid vehicle equipped with aerodynamic optimization and lightweight aluminum structures. The result, Honda Insight with two doors launched as the vehicle with the most efficient EPA certified fuel consumption with consumption of 70 miles per gallon. This is Honda's first vehicle that utilizes hybrid system Integrated Motor Assist (IMA).
The second generation of Honda Insight was launched in 2009 as the most affordable hybrid vehicle on the market. With five doors and a capacity of five passengers, the second generation Honda Insight offers a wider cabin with the development of an IMA hybrid system. Meanwhile, New Honda Insight 2019 has many changes with the style, look, features and premium performance desired car buyers in general. Unlike the first two generations of Honda Insight, the New Honda Insight comes with a two-motor hybrid system that offers competitive fuel efficiency over other compact hybrid models.
At the North American International Auto Show 2017, we announced the Honda Electrification Initiative with the goal of making two-thirds of Honda's global sales dominated by electric vehicles in 2030, Arcangeli said. With the launch of the New Honda Insight Prototype in 2018 as the fifth electric vehicle launched in the market, we have demonstrated a commitment to that goal.
New Honda Insight will be produced at Indiana Plant, Greensburg, along with Honda Civic, Honda CR-V and Honda Clarity (Clarity Fuel Cell, Clarity Electric and Clarity Plug-in Hybrid) and All-New Honda Accord Hybrid 2018. All will arrive at all-American dealerships in early 2018. [idc]
