It was said Rector Mulawarman University Prof. Dr. H. Masjaya in the National Consultative Meeting on Environment and Forestry, at Round Hall of Faculty of Forestry, Mulawarman University, Samarinda, Wednesday, October 11, 2017 yesterday.
Masjaya revealed that the public relations still to be completed by the government, among others, land tenure by the community in the forest area which is still unfinished. Then, the development is still considered to extend the destruction of natural resources and degrade the quality of the environment.
The next PR is the biodiversity and ecosystem as a buffer for human life that is still under threat. And forestry business that is still managed unsustainably.
"Efforts to anticipate the impact of climate change are still less progressively responded," he said in a written statement in Jakarta, Thursday (15/10/2017).
However, with the theme of "Fighting the Future of Environment and Better Forestry" is expected to provide input and solutions for the government to solve these problems within the next 2 years.
"This national assembly could lead to new ideas that the government can use to overcome obstacles and improve government performance for the next two years," he said.
Chairman of the National Council, Firdaus Ali explained, this National Meeting was held because of the request from the president to make a kind of study of 3 years of Jokowi-JK government.
"The aim is to criticize the political promises that have been outlined in the National Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMN), then give input to the President as material to improve performance in achieving the goal," he said.
According to Firdaus, this Environment and Forestry Council is one of the activities in the series of Regional Conferences held in 16 Universities in Indonesia, with different themes. The results of this conference will be compiled and submitted to the President at the summit of the National Conference on October 25, 2017 in Jakarta.
"If there is an achievement of performance, also please be exposed openly, it is to build mutual optimism not for imaging," he said.
