Jakarta Capital City Saves 50 Percent for PJU Operations

Jakarta Provincial Government has a special budget for the provision of public facilities one of the public road lighting (PJU). Currently, there is a new technology used for general lighting in Jakarta, namely CityTouch, provided by Philips Lighting. With the technology, the city government can save 50 percent operational cost.

This is justified by the Head of DKI Jakarta Office of Communications, Information and Public Relation, Dian Ekowati in a press conference related to the implementation of Philips Lighting Week in Senayan City, Jakarta, on Thursday (17/11/2016)

"The financing result to pay for street lighting has been able to make 50 percent more efficient, almost 50 percent of the cost before using a system like this," he said.

Philips CityTouch project itself is an update of public road lighting in Jakarta with the installation of 90 thousand street lights. The lights used have energy-efficient Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology, which can save operational costs by 50 percent. This CityTouch system can be monitored remotely easily.

CitycTouch became the largest public road lighting project conducted by Philips Lighting in the world. The reason, Citytouch successfully meet the target of seven months with about 430 points of light installed every day.

Dian Ekowati strongly supports the Philips CityTouch project because it helps the Jakarta Provincial Government program to realize Jakarta as smart city (smart city) and can save energy.

Similarly, the President Director of PT Philips Indonesia, Chandra Vaidyanathan also said, the use of energy-efficient lighting and environmentally friendly has become a trend in the world. The reason, countries in the world campaigning for decreased use of carbon in lights.

"Since its launch in 2012, Philips CityTouch street lighting systems have been implemented on more than 700 projects in 35 countries," he said.
