Kick Dahlan seizeSome time ago, Minister of State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Dahlan Iskan explicitly said that Indonesia has not been sovereign in the air. Because, until 2014, some of Indonesia's airspace will still be controlled by Singapore's air traffic controllers.

This is in accordance with the Presidential Decree of Presidential Decree Number 7 Year 1996 on Ratification of FIR Agreement (flight information region) with Singapore, regulated eastern navigation system in Indonesia controlled by Singapore for 15 years.

Air security systems in eastern Indonesia such as in Batam, Palembang, Medan, Pekanbaru, Pontianak, Bangka Belitung are controlled by Singapore. Dahlan took the initiative to create an aviation service system to make Indonesia more sovereign in the air.

Through Government Regulation No. 77 of 2012, the government established a company that focuses on aviation navigation in Indonesia. This Perum is called Perum Lembaga Penyelenggara Pelayanan Navigasi Udara Indonesia (LPPNPI). With this institution, in Indonesia there will be only one navigation agency that combines flight navigation.

Aviation observer Alvin Lie see, Singapore can get the authority to regulate air traffic in some parts of Indonesia and Malaysia due to gain confidence from the international world. "International is comfortable with Singapore services," Alvin told, Thursday (18/10).

According to him, the recognition is not obtained easily. Singapore's navigation companies must be able to prove to the international aviation world that they are capable of managing air traffic in other countries in an orderly and safe manner.

Dahlan aspires to seize Indonesia's air sovereignty controlled by Singapore. The presence of the tower navigation company, is expected to realize that. Alvin noticed, it could have been realized.

"The challenge is, our navigation company should be able to prove it internationally, so the international world is comfortable when we see we can arrange air navigation," he said.
