AMED's first oriented public orientation 40 was the introduction of social science, with a team of 20 people composed of teams of 3 Ordinary Members, and 17 Young Members. From Malang city to Sitiarjo village takes approximately 2 hours 18 minutes, Sitiarjo Village is the first place to be visited before doing mangrove tree planting activities. Then kindly with CMC (Clungup Mangrove Conservation) officers managed by Mr. Saptoyo to get permission to plant mangrove trees.
Early activities of mangrove tree planting must pass through the rocky roads that are inundated by ground water or mud, this trip is very stressful because some of the team slipped by the slippery rocks.
The team parked the motorcycle in the parking lot and proceeded to the checklist by foot. Materials given include history, mangrove species, mangrove planting techniques, biota ecosystems around mangrove plants, mangrove benefits, and other important knowledge about mangrove plants. Around 9:15 pm the next scientific social activity is observing the Lutung along with the habitat and also the way of adapting the lutung itself. With this activity we can see four types of monkeys that have been released in the free field to start adapting and feeding in a new environment.
From this activity also kitabisa know that the monkey itself turned out to have the same thoughts with humans, they can also be sick, happy and angry. If the monkey is sick, then the monkey will go find his own medicine to cure his illness.At 14:22 the team is ready to continue the trip to Selok beach to plant the Keben (Barringsonia asiatika). During the planting material of the Keben plant, the team was guided by Mr. Parmin. Pak Parmin explained that the growth period of the crop itself is very long for hundreds of years. Local people are allowed to utilize the plant without reducing the ecology of its authenticity system.
Keben plants have one type only. The benefits of the plant keben almost the same as mangrove plants that are as penagkal sea water, and carbon dioxide binder. Keben is also one of the main plant ingredients in the treatment of eyes with herbal media. Mr. Parmin said that this plant is very influential on the ecosystem. One of the organizations working in Pantai Selok as a manager of tourism in the vicinity of the coast is LMDH (Lembaga Desa Desa Hutan). The initial step of establishing LMDH institution is due to the loss of habitat or almost extinction of the crop, so with the concern of the community can be beneficial to the surrounding community.
In the afternoon at 17.00 WIB, the composition of the team of 20 people, namely 3 Regular Members and 17 Young Members with a healthy condition to travel back to Brawijaya University, Malang, precisely to Bravo Tenda (IMPALA UB Secretariat). The journey that the team pass is very different when compared to the road to Clungup Beach and Kondang Merak Beach.
