Observe the cold air in the Holy Land for optimal Umrah worship
Currently, air temperatures in Saudi Arabia, both the holy cities of Mecca and Medina are very cold, reach temperatures below 20 degrees Celsius. Even for the city of Medina at night the temperature can reach below 10 degrees Celsius. My friend who happens to be a doctor who is currently at the end of December and early January is carrying out Umrah worship conveys many people who do not anticipate the cold air, they have health problems such as nosebleeds, cough and cold lips cracked so lowering appetite. Of course this condition is very disturbing the pilgrims who are performing Umrah worship. Therefore, the Umrah pilgrims must be able to anticipate the cold air so that the pilgrims remain in good health and still be able to perform the worship with the best.
I try to identify 3 diseases that arise during Umrah worship in extreme temperatures, such diseases include:
Pre-existing diseases in those pilgrims who experience recurrence due to cold air include asthma (shortness of breath), allergic colds (allergic rhinitis), sinusitis and skin allergies due to cold air.
Diseases that arise directly due to cold air: the skin becomes dry, the skin of the sole of the foot becomes cracked, cracked on the lips and sometimes a nosebleed. If exposure to cold air continues to occur will decrease body temperature (hypothermia) that will threaten the Umrah pilgrims.
Diseases that do not occur directly as a result of the cold air. The congregation who contracted the cough from a roommate who happened to have allergies and infected so as to spread to others.
The pilgrims who have a high risk of health problems because of the cold weather of the elderly pilgrims, the pilgrims who have diabetes, heart problems and blood vessels and the pilgrims who have problems with thyroid.
In addition to weather conditions other circumstances that can worsen the health of pilgrims is fatigue due to long and exhausting journey. In addition, the process of up and down the vehicle from the airport to the inn will also cause the fatigue is increasingly becoming. Not to mention the process of division of rooms that sometimes protracted which in the end this situation will make the pilgrims become increasingly fatigue. Therefore, things that need to be observed by the pilgrims and the managers of the worship of the umrah is that for the pilgrims are available enough rest time after arriving at the inn. Gratefulness and eager to see the Nabawi Mosque as well as the pilgrimage to the tomb of Prophet Muhammad SAW sometimes defeated the fatigue that exists during the journey and up at the inn. However, the whole body also needs to rest even though sometimes the spirit can overcome the fatigue. Therefore that should always be remembered by the congregation for adequate rest, after arriving at the inn.
How to cool the cold?
Nothing else to do with cold air we have to cover our bodies to keep the stinging cold out of contact with our skin. Use a jacket that can cover the rest of our body, try to use layered clothing with additional headgear, thick socks and gloves while outside.
Cultivated always to use clothes dry and clean. Cold stinging and direct contact with the skin will cause the skin to be dry therefore should always smear lotion on the skin of the hands and soles of the feet so that the skin does not dry and does not cause injury. Lips and nostrils are also attempted to always smeared cream of course cream intended for the lips and nose so that the lips are not dry and do not cause injuries that will ultimately reduce appetite. Nosebleeds or blood from the nose often occurs in pilgrims who experience dryness in the nostrils.
Drink enough to prevent the pilgrims from falling into dehydration or lack of fluids that will worsen the health of the cold. During the mosque, drinking places containing zam-zam water are always available within and around the Nabawi Mosque or in the Grand Mosque. Avoid drinks containing caffeine such as coffee or soft drinks because by consuming these drinks will aggravate dehydration and the body becomes not resistant to cold. If our urine becomes more turbid this is a sign that we should improve to consume water.
Eating is important and always cared for. Food taste and do not like certain foods should be thrown away. It would not be difficult to find Indonesian restaurants with Indonesian tastes around the Nabawi Mosque or the surrounding lodgingTo prevent pilgrims from being exposed to cold air outside the mosque, it should be arranged so that during Zuhr and Ashar prayers the pilgrims are still waiting in the mosque of course before the prayers have eaten first or if possible between Zuhr and Ashar prayers can exit the mosque to eat, or Umrah pilgrims remain in the mosque for the time after Ashar and Magrib resumed during Isya.
Umrah worship is short time so we should be able to optimize the short time with maximal worship without significant health problems.
Hopefully this information can be used to anticipate and solve the existing extreme air problems in Saudi Arabia.
