The level of environmental degradation is one of the important factors determining the high disaster risk in an area, especially in archipelagic countries like Indonesia. World Risk Report noted that during 2002 to 2011, there have been 4,130 disasters worldwide that resulted in more than 1 million deaths and material losses reached US $ 1.195 trillion. The World Risk Report also creates a World Risk Index that raises 173 countries based on the risk of becoming a disaster victim as a result of natural disasters.

This shows that the living creature in particular is a party that always utilize the environment, both in terms of respiration, food needs, boards and others. And, humans as the most superior creatures in the ecosystem, have the power in creating and consuming various natural resources for the necessities of life. Environmental damage is also dominated by garbage that is not fully processed by the people of Indonesia. Therefore, there needs to be awareness from the community to prevent the increase of environmental damage.

The application of 3R (Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle) systems is one of the solutions in maintaining the environment around us that is cheap and easy to do in addition to processing waste into compost or utilizing waste to be a source of electricity (Waste Power Generation). In addition, the implementation of 3R can also be done by everyone in their daily activities. 3R consists of Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle. Reuse means reusing waste that can still be used for the same function or other functions. Reduce means reducing everything that results in waste. And Recycle means reprocessing (recycling) waste into useful items or new products.

A.Reduce

Reduce means we reduce the use of materials that can damage the environment. Reduce also means reducing the spending on items you do not really need like new clothes, extra accessories or anything that essentially is a reduction in needs. Reduce the use of tissue paper with handkerchiefs, reduce paper use in the office with print preview before printing so as not to go wrong, read the newspaper online, and more.

Examples of daily reduce activities:

1.Choose products with recyclable packaging.

2. Avoid wearing and buying products that generate large amounts of waste.

3.Using a refillable product (refill). For example stationery that can be refilled again).

4.Reduce use of disposable materials.

5.Using email (electronic mail) to send mailB.Reuse

Reuse itself means reusing as for example giving your used clothes to orphans. But the closest is to give a small outfit to your sister or brother, other than that baby clothes that only a few months are used is still good and can be given to relatives in need.

Examples of daily reuse activities:

1.Choosing containers, bags or objects that can be used multiple times or repeatedly. For example, use a handkerchief instead of using a tissue, using a cloth shopping bag instead of using a plastic bag.

Use electronic storage devices that can be erased and rewritten.

Using the blank side of the paper to write.

C.Recycle

Recycle is recycling goods. The easiest way is to recycle organic waste in your home, using a plastic bottle of drinking water or anything as a potted plant, to recycle used paper to become paper again. Massive recycling has not become a habit in Indonesia. Dumpster that distinguishes between organic and non-organic just does not work. In fact, ultimately more environmental guerrillas are recycling creatively and transmitting it to many people than the government.

Examples of daily recycle activities:

1.Choosing products and packaging that can be recycled and easy to decompose.

Processing waste paper into paper or cardboard again.Perform organic waste processing into compost.

Perform non-organic waste processing into useful items and even have a sale value.
